The Scheme is open to those who hold, or are
studying towards, a deck offi cer qualifi cation
awarded by a White List administration. Partici-pants
must demonstrate practical competence on
board and in simulator exercises, and show a thorough
understanding of ice regimes, including ice physics,
operations in sea ice, hazards, search and rescue and
weather.
Award of an NI Ice Navigator Level 1 or Level 2 certifi -
cate means the offi cer will possess an internationally
recognised qualifi cation, valid for fi ve years, demonstrat-ing
they have the competence and confi dence to navigate
safely in ice anywhere within the limits of their CoC.
FEES & APPLICATIONS
The price of Ice Navigation Certifi cates from 1 January
2017.
The NI Members’ rate to members of the Finnish Ship’s
Offi cers’ Union will be extenden until the end of 2018.
Please identify on your application that you are a member
of The Finnish Ship’s Offi cers’ Union.
Members: Certifi cation: £150.00 (+ VAT where applicable)
Non-Members: Certifi cation: £170.00 (+ VAT where
applicable)
